Prolotherapy in Cold Spring & Surrounding Areas
What Is It?
Prolotherapy is a form of regenerative medicine used to encourage the natural healing process within your body. It is an injection treatment that uses a small amount of irritant, such as dextrose (sugar solution), to irritate the damaged tissue. This will stimulate the healing process. Prolotherapy is commonly used to help with muscle, tendon, ligament and soft tissue injuries.
Who Can It Help?
Prolotherapy can often be beneficial in many chronic and acute conditions, such as:
- Arthritis, especially in the hips, knees or shoulders
- Sports injuries
- Soft tissue injuries
- Muscle strain/sprains
- Chronic trigger points
- Tears in tendons or ligaments
- Meniscus tears
- Chronic tendonitis
- Chronic SI joint pain
What to Expect
Following the injection, you may feel a notable increase in pain for a few days, but this is a normal part of the healing process. The pain intensity becomes less each day as functional mobility and general functional ability increase along with endurance and strength. By treating injured tissues before the damage progresses, surgical intervention may be avoided.
